Honeycomb Bread (khaliat al nahl):

Ingredients: 

3 cups bread flour 

½ cup melted butter 

1 cup warm milk 

1 tbsp yeast 

¼ cup sugar 

1 tsp salt 

2 tbsp yoghurt 

200g cream cheese, cut into cubes 

1 egg, whisked 

Honey 

Supreme Sesame Seeds 

Supreme Kalonji Seeds 

Method: 

Mix together milk, yeast and sugar and set aside to activate the yeast. Add bread flour, salt, yoghurt and melted butter into a large mixing bowl. Mix together then pour in the yeast mixture. Continue to mix then knead to form a soft dough. Cover the dough and set aside and proof in a warm place for 1 hour or until the dough doubles in size. 

After the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 20 portions. Flatten each dough portion with your hands and place a piece of cream cheese cube in the middle, then pinch the ends and roll to seal. Repeat with remaining dough. 

Place the dough balls into a lightly greased pan. Cover and proof for another 30 minutes. Preheat the oven at 180°c. Uncover the dough and brush the tops with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds and kalonji seeds. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Once baked, remove from the oven and drizzle over honey and serve warm.
